1922 British Antique Reuben Jordan "Defiance" Smoking Pipe, Sterling Silver Mount

This antique briar pipe, named “DEFIANCE,” was made in 1922 by the London, England maker Reuben Jordan.

The bowl features a refined straight (billiard) shape, with the dense, beautiful grain characteristic of briarwood rising to the surface. The shank bears the “DEFIANCE” name in a ribbon motif,while a sterling silver band, hallmarked in London in 1922, adds an elegant gleam at the joint.

There is some charring inside the bowl and on the rim, along with minor scuffs on the wood and silver band,but these are part of the rich character of an antique that has stood the test of more than 100 years. With its timeless classic appearance, this pipe will lend an air of distinction to a grown-up’s quiet moment of relaxation, savoring a curl of smoke.
