This is an antique sterling silver Albert chain, made in Britain in 1894 during the late Victorian era. Its traditional “trombone link” design alternates elongated links reminiscent of trombone tubing with small round links, creating a striking, elegant silhouette.
The T-bar and each link bear the lion passant hallmark denoting British sterling silver, and its substantial 42g weight and soft silver sheen are especially appealing. The dog clip at the end was replaced at a later date with a base-metal one for practical use; it shows some darkening and wear. Its minor scratches and scuffs reflect the character of an item that has stood the test of more than 130 years. Why not wear it with a pocket watch or as an accent to a modern outfit?.
