This is an antique sterling silver brooch crafted in 1902 by the prestigious Sheffield silversmith "James Deakin & Sons.".
It strongly reflects the characteristics of the Art Nouveau style that swept through Europe at the time, featuring a three-dimensional relief of a graceful woman's profile alongside botanical motifs. The undulating, organic frame and the hallmark proudly stamped on the right edge of the surface serve as tasteful accents unique to British silverware of that era..
While there are fine scratches from over 120 years of history, as well as darkening in the recessed areas and tarnishing on the reverse, these only serve to deepen the shadows and highlight the beauty of the design. The simple C-clasp is also in good condition. Why not add a touch of historical artistry to your daily attire as a clasp for a classic blouse or stole?
